Work-At-Home Makeup On A Budget
Updated: Nov 8
I have been working from home for quite some time now and I was finding myself getting very lazy with self-care. Not changing out of my PJs, not washing my face or doing my hair. Why is it that when you are home for a long time you forget the self-care things that made you happy?
I have decided to do my makeup now while working from home. I love doing my makeup and exploring new looks and learning new techniques. I do makeup for myself so why wouldn't I do it while working from home?
I don't think you need the most expensive makeup to get what you need out of the experience. Doing my makeup makes me feel happy and pretty no matter the brand or price tag. Most of the makeup I own and use comes from my local drugstore or Walmart. It's not only cheaper but you can find some really good and pretty pallets etc by exploring these places.
Below I have my Work-At-home Makeup routine that fits a very affordable budget.
Summary of My Makeup Routine
I always start by washing my face and moisturizing it with a day cream and then a primer.
Once my primer is set I'll go in with an under eye concealer and also conceal around my nose. I let that sit for a couple of minutes then go in with my Mac foundation and apply that all over with a beauty blender. Next, I will powder my face then move onto bronzer and blush. The eye makeup is my favourite part, I love fun colours and neutral colours so it just depends on how I'm feeling that day. I usually just apply the same colour all over my lid then finish off with my mascara from Covergirl. The last and most important step for me is lip colour. I have recently become obsessed with lipsticks! They just complete the look don't you think?
Products I Use
As you can see, I've hit pan on a couple of the products as these are just my absolute favourites to use!
All of these products were bought from Shoppers or Walmart and range from $10 - $30 in price. I find that they also last a very long time especially if you're not doing your makeup every day. When I do a full face makeup look I don't usually apply a lot of makeup so my makeup lasts a very long time which is nice, especially being on a budget.
My finished makeup look doesn't look too much different from my natural look which is something that I love. There are definitely some makeup techniques that I would love to try and work on including contouring and highlighting.
For me, makeup is not about covering myself up or disguising how I look, it's about expressing my self and engaging the way I already look. It gives me a boost of confidence and makes me feel happy.
Working from home shouldn't change this. Feel confident and pretty no matter where you are. Wear makeup if it makes you feel pretty, go bare face if it makes you feel pretty.
